About the ACP Sugar Research Programme

The ACP sugar research programme will provide solutions to the sugar industry in ACP countries, by responding to a selected number of clearly identified technological challenges that hamper the sugarcane sector's performance. A total of eleven research and innovation projects will be implemented under the programme, covering three distinctive areas of research: (cane varieties, costs and losses cuttings)

The Coordinating Unit
The Coordinating Unit will assist the Secretariat of the ACP Group to ensure that: all eleven research projects are effectively implemented, with a results oriented focus, to achieve the goals of improving sector competitiveness among ACP cane sugar producer countries;
The Programme gouvernance
The Steering Committee will be responsible for the programme's overall guidance, approving yearly work programmes and deciding upon unallocated funds. It will ensure that research programme and projects are generally coherent and that their purposes are consistent with the goals pursued under the amsp. It will examine, discuss and agree progress reports.
