SUCCESSFUL UTILISATION of CO-PRODUCTS in the SUGAR INDUSTRY

The International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ISSCT) and the
Thailand Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (TSSCT) are organizing a
“Co-Products Workshop” which will be held at the Sofitel Centara Grand
Bangkok, 1695 Phaholyothin Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok, Thailand, from
Monday 19 to 22 March 2012.
This workshop aims to discuss the possibilities to produce value-added coproducts
from the intermediate- and by-products of the cane sugar industry.
The current and emerging technologies in this field will be a focus of this
meeting and will include the fermentation process to produce ethanol and
bio-monomers (such as lactic acid and succinic acid) from cane juice,
molasses and cellulosic residue, gasification of bagasse and the production
of chemicals and animal feed from sugar and its by-products. The energy
efficiency in distillation and cogeneration of bagasse will also be addressed.
